Why are there different versions of wallets?

Every wallet in TON is implemented as a smart contract. Smart contracts serve various purposes and offer diverse functionalities. As blockchain evolved, contracts had to adapt to new ecosystem requirements, resulting in multiple TON wallet versions. Further information about each version can be found in the TON blockchain documentation.

How to access previous versions in Tonkeeper?

By default, Tonkeeper creates a wallet using the most current version — W5. If you need to access previous versions, you can use the desktop or web version of Tonkeeper. To do this, go to 'Settings' > 'Active address' and add each of the versions you need.

If you are using the mobile version, you can add other versions if you have a balance on the addresses of those previous versions. When importing your wallet, Tonkeeper will offer you the option to select the versions you wish to add.
